Tequila Ocho Añejo Old Fitzgerald Corralillos Barrel Select

Tequila Ocho Añejo Old Fitzgerald Corralillos Barrel Select

Corralillos brings the heat… and dessert

Alright folks, grab your fancy tasting glasses and your sibling rivalry metaphors, because it’s time to meet the fraternal twin of Tequila Ocho’s Potrero Grande barrel: the Corralillos Barrel Select. Same distillery, same Old Fitzgerald bourbon barrels, but this bottle showed up to the family reunion wearing a different vibe and a silkier smile.

Where Potrero was rugged, earthy, and maybe a little broody (you know, the twin who listens to vinyl and talks about fermentation like it’s a religion), Corralillos is the smooth talker. It starts off with peppery heat — like it wants to remind you it’s still got some kick but then it slides into this buttery, caramel-rich finish that feels like your taste buds just got a velvet hug.

It’s creamier, softer, and dare I say… more flirty. There’s a warm sweetness here that balances out the agave backbone without getting syrupy or artificial. It’s still Ocho, still bold, but this one’s got more of a dessert course swagger than Potrero’s dinnertime grit.

So which one wins? Look, I love them both. Potrero is that intense friend who brings a bottle of something obscure and lectures you about NOM numbers. But Corralillos? Corralillos brings the party and a warm blanket. If I had to choose, and you’re making me, I’m team Corralillos.

It just hits different. Like the same story, but with a smoother ending
