El Tesoro Extra Anejo

El Tesoro Extra Anejo

Anticipation was high, reputation even higher—but sometimes the sip doesn’t match the story

This is one of those bottles you can’t wait to get your hands on. High ratings on Tequila Matchmaker. One of the most respected names in tequila. Everything about it screams must-have.

Flavor-wise, you get all the right notes: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, a touch of black pepper, and cinnamon. Sounds like a dream, right?

But for me, it just didn’t land. I kept coming back to it—more than half the bottle is gone at this point—but each time, I caught a chemical taste that threw things off. Now, to be clear, El Tesoro is additive-free, so I’m not pointing fingers. I genuinely think this might be a rare off bottle. It just never quite settled in for me.

And honestly? That makes me sad. I wanted to love this. I expected to love this. But the magic never showed up.

Still, I believe in El Tesoro. Once this bottle’s gone, I’ll grab another and try again. This one feels like a fluke—not a reflection of the brand’s legacy.

Bottom line: Disappointed this time, but not giving up.
