Santo Fino Extra Anejo
One bottle. One wild ride.
Santo Fino XA
This Santo Fino XA review isn’t just about flavor—it’s about a tequila with a story so wild it should come with a seatbelt.
Caramel, pepper, cinnamon, and cooked agave. This one brings the dessert tray and a little kick. It’s warm, smooth, and has that classic XA richness without feeling overly sweet or syrupy. The cooked agave still shines through, which isn’t always the case with extra añejos.
What surprised me most? The nose. Right out of the glass, it gave me serious bourbon vibes—something I don’t always pick up, because let’s be honest, my nose usually taps out early. But this time? Nailed it. It reminded me of some high-proof bourbons I used to sip before tequila stole my heart.
Now, here’s where it gets wild:
This particular bottle has an extraordinary backstory. It originates from one of the two freight trucks hijacked in Laredo, Texas, carrying over 24,000 bottles of Santo Blanco, Reposado, and Extra Añejo tequilas. The incident involved illegal rebrokering and GPS spoofing, leading to the full disappearance of the shipments.
So yeah, you’re not just sipping an XA—you’re sipping a piece of tequila history with a side of true crime. This bottle was part of a private pick by The Tequila Hombre, and thanks to that bizarre twist of fate, an XA like this from Santo Spirits will likely never be seen again.
It’s rich, layered, and easy to sip, but the story? That’s what makes this pour unforgettable. Definitely one of those bottles you pull out when friends are over and you want to drop a little “you’re not gonna believe this” while pouring a glass.
If you like rare extra añejos that still hold onto cooked agave and a bourbon-like presence, you’ll want to check out our Wild Common Añejo review too.
Super yummy. Super rare. And super Sip-Worthy.
